General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the business, staff and guests. An ambassador for the brand and the business, which is a bar & restaurant with boutique accommodation .
Required to provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments in our service culture, maximize operations and guest satisfaction.
Responsible for managing the business management team and overall business targets to deliver an excellent Guest experience.
GM Duties and Responsibilities
Hands on approach to overseeing the operations functions of the business
Ensure full compliance to business operating controls policies, procedures, and service standards.
Lead all key property issues including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment.
Handling complaints and oversee the service recovery procedures.
Manage on-going profitability of the business ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded. Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the business and management. Deliver business budget goals and set other short- and long-term strategic goals for the property. Developing improvement actions, carry out cost savings when necessary.
A strong understanding of P& L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies. Closely monitor the business reports daily and take decisions accordingly. Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Rooms, Food & Beverage Admin and General are on target and accurate. Maximizing room yield and hotel revenue through innovative sales practices
Prepare a monthly financial report for the owners and directors. Draw up plans and budget (revenues, costs, and overheads) for the owners. Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved.
Helping in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment. Contacting with third – party vendors for essential equipment and services.
Confidence and experience in Hiring key staff with some HR Experience. Manage and develop the hotel team to ensure career progression and development.
Co-ordination with heads of departments for the execution of all activities and functions. Overseeing and managing all departments and working closely with department heads daily.
Responsible for safeguarding the quality of the operations of the property. Responsible for Health and safety Act, Fire Regulations, Food Hygiene and HACCP and other legal requirements. Be aware of a Green Environment and steer both staff and business in that direction.
Act as Ambassador for the hotel at Tourist Promotion Bodies in the town, undertake a seat on their committees if required . Be familiar with local tourist information and always ready to promote the town.
Prerequisites / Experience
The ideal candidate is a committed and seasoned, hotel professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience. Customer Orientated and the ability to manage staff with Assertiveness and friendly manner. A good knowledge of P&L Accounts.
Available to work when needed, including weekends, bank holidays and nights.
Evidence of Interest in, and commitment to the success of the company.
A qualification in hotel management or a related field with experience in operational hotel management with a clear track record, or on the job experience over a number of years with additional courses. Excellent computer system skills.
