I graduated from the Cork School of Music in 2014 with a First-Class Honours as 'Student of the Year', having been awarded the 'Highest-placed BMus Degree Student' in my year on three occasions. During this time, I was awarded a Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance by Trinity College London. I then went on to study a Masters of Music in the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland.
In 2012 and 2014 I was awarded the 'Most Distinguished Post-Grade 8 Student' in the Department of Keyboard Studies, and was the 2014 winner in two of the three college competitions open to pianists at both Bachelor and Masters level (namely the Cork School of Music Advanced Recital Competition -winning second prize in 2012- and the Cork School of Music Piano Accompaniment Competition). I have three times competed in and won both the Bernard Curtis Memorial Cup and overall Prizewinner’s Perpetual Piano Trophy in Feis Maitiú, Corcaigh (2011,2014,2015) as well as being the 2016 winner of the Huban Cup & Patrick Brennan Award in Feis Ceoil, Dublin. In November 2015, I was co-artistic director (with David Kenny) of Shostakovich Festival 2015 (in which I also featured prominently as a performer), featuring all of Shostakovich’s major chamber works, starring international artists such as the Carducci Quartet, Vanbrugh Quartet and pianist Barry Douglas. I have performed in venues such as the RDS Concert Hall in Dublin -as part of the RDS Rising Stars Music Recitals Programme (2014)- and most recently in City Hall (Cork) as piano soloist with the Cork Concert Orchestra (2018).
As a composer, I was the 2017 winner of the Seán Ó Riada Composition Competition and subsequently had my composition Scél Lemm Dúib premiered by Chamber Choir Ireland (formerly the National Chamber Choir of Ireland) in St. Finbarre’s Cathedral as part of the Cork International Choral Festival. I was runner-up in the same competition in 2016 when my composition featured in the Symposium on New Choral Music hosted by Chamber Choir Ireland, again as part of the Cork International Choral Festival). Two choirs have won the Trófaí Cuimhneacháin Philib Uí Laoghaire in Ireland's Choir of the Year with a performance of my compositions.
