HM&E are hiring! We are seeking an experienced Pipefitter to join our team in Co. Mayo.
Annual remuneration is dependent on experience.
Lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and industrial production and processing systems, applying knowledge of system operation, and following drawings.
Select type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, according to specifications.
Inspect work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness.
Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
Cut pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
Thread pipe, using pipe threading machine.
Bend pipe, using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machine.
Assemble and install variety of metal and non-metal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron and steel.
Connect pipe, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps and hangers, using hand tools and power tools.
Increase pressure in pipe system and observe connected pressure gauge to test system for leaks.
Weld pipe supports to structural steel members.
Observe production machines in assigned area of facility to detect machinery malfunctions.
Gas ARC cutting. Welding (MIG and TIG).
Relevant on site experience.
Read and draft blueprints/drawings for new installations or existing pipes.
Ability to safely use hand and power tools
Effective communication and time management skills
Proficient in TIG/MIG welding.
Comply with company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Ensure work completed is of high quality.
An ability to master new skills quickly and attend training as required.
Be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
