Online Maths and Chemistry Grinds with an Experienced Medicine Student
- Date Listed29/09/2018
I am a third year Medicine student with two years' teaching experience. I have taught well over twenty different students Leaving Cert higher-level Maths and Chemistry over that time, and have even tutored university-level students in Chemistry and Engineering. On top of this, I instruct in First-Aid as a member of the StreetDoctors charity and held a summer job as a teaching assistant in CTYI, at which I taught both engineering and neuroscience.
My teaching methods have been consistently popular with students and successful in raising their marks. A third-level understanding of academics, practical knowledge of the exam papers and the ability to cater my teaching to individual students allows me to help struggling students pass and push top students to secure H1 grades.
In terms of my own academic history, I achieved 625 points in the leaving cert, including a H1 in both higher level maths and chemistry. I recently sat Trinity's Foundation Scholarship exams and was successful, being awarded a 5-year scholarship as a result. I use the same methods for my own studies as I do for teaching students.
I teach leaving cert Maths and Chemistry but I will consider teaching any third-level modules, depending on the difficulty of the material and the subject matter.
Most of my grinds are now delivered online but I may consider face-to-face grinds in certain circumstances. Online grinds are focused around students attempting and being guided through worked questions I create in advance via video conference; this is in line with up-to-date research on the most effective teaching methods.
My hourly rate is 35 euro per hour for 1-on-1 grinds, 25 per hour for small group grinds (2-3 people) and 20 euro per hour for larger groups. Due to high demand I mainly prioritise doing small group grinds, which for the student deliver the same product at a lower cost. Payment can be sent via PayPal.
