Argos Steam Iron

WANTED: House building materials and furnishings.
- Date Listed14/01/2019
A little introduction first: We are a couple in our late 20's saving for a home and on the process of budgeting/saving and getting a mortgage.
We dream of building a passive house in the country side in county Cork (between Cork and Clonakilty). We have managed to save up the deposity and a little bit extra for expenses, but other than that, we are flat out!
We are finding the process very laborious and hard to figure out what to do next.
We are thinkig of going with a pre-fab timber frame with 14mm of insulated exterior walls plus a reflective airtight membrane over that, with triple glass windows by INNOVATIVE HOME SOLUTIONS.
They can build the frame or we can do self-building.
In any of the cases we will need to do all of the rest of the finishings, like internal walls, pluming, electrics, heating, etc.
In order to cut down on the budget and keep with the ecological/environmental theme, we are looking for secondhand building material (tools, scaffolding, wheel barrel, blocks, tiles, fencing, save keeping container, portaloo, etc) that we can use in our build.
We are taking anything useful for house building (including light switches, lighting, sinks, taps, bath, etc), and later on household furnishings (kitchen white goods, furniture, bedroom furniture, etc)
If anyone is giving away household items, appliances, furniture, gardening tools, building tools, etc, for free or at an exchange for services in the Cork area (cleaning, painting, gardening, babysitting, petsitting) we will kindly accept them and give them a new live.
Anything that might fit trow the in-laws attic trap door or can be stored outside in the garden is welcome.
Advise on building a passive house is also very welcome and needed!!!
We aim to be the most ecological we can be in this house so secondhand and repurposed will always be better for the environment than newly manufactured. We will also be looking in salvage yards.
So far we have kindly been given/got:
- shower base
- cups and mugs (charity shop)
- cutlery (friend)
- bookcase (freecycle)
- Shower set (freecycle)
- ikea chair (freecycle)
We dont have a site yet, so everything is moving very slowly. We are looking for a secondhand Belfast sink (double sink). Thanks in advance from both of us!
