Work Rider

Monaghan'S Showjumping Limited are currently looking for a Work Rider at their site at Hodgestown, Kilcock, Co. Kildare.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Ride and exercise horses on a daily basis according to their individual training programmes.
• Warm up and cool down horses appropriately before and after exercise.
• Assess the horse's condition, behaviour and performance and report any concerns to the Yard Manager or Trainer.
• Assist with the preparation of horses for training, exercise, racing, competition or other work.
• Groom horses before and after riding and ensure they are correctly tacked up.
• Check horses for signs of injury, illness or changes in condition and promptly report concerns.
• Maintain tack, riding equipment and stable equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Assist with loading, unloading and transporting horses when required.
• Follow all health and safety procedures relating to horses, riding and yard operations.
The successful candidate should have a minimum of 1-3 years as a work rider which must include the following:
• Previous professional experience working with and riding horses.
• Good practical knowledge of horse care, handling and stable management.
• Ability to follow training and exercise instructions accurately.
• Ability to recognise changes in a horse's behaviour, condition or soundness.
• Good understanding of stable safety and safe horse-handling practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good physical fitness and willingness to undertake outdoor and manual work.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays as required by the needs of the yard.

A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role essential.

Remuneration is €36,605 per annum based on a standard 39 hour week
