Description
Herbert Thorpe JNR is currently seeking a Buyer and Procurement Officer for their site at Proudstown, Tara, Co. Meath to manage the end-to-end acquisition of goods and supplies, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, quality control, and supplier management.
Duties will include:
• Managing procurement and supplier relationships.
• Sourcing and purchasing pigeon feed, supplements, medications, loft equipment, accessories, and other pigeon-related products.
• Inspecting deliveries for quality, labelling, condition, and compliance with company standards.
• Monitoring stock rotation (FIFO where applicable) and removing damaged, expired, or substandard products.
• Ensuring proper storage of products and compliance with relevant quality and safety standards.
• Conducting quality checks and maintaining procurement, supplier, and inventory records.
Key Requirements:
• Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of stock control and inventory management (including FIFO where applicable).
• Good communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in the agricultural, animal care, or pet supplies sector is desirable.
